I just visited a suri alpaca farm in Woodstock, IL and the owners of the alpaca farm asked me how are human years converted to alpaca years. I did research online and found out that 1 human year is equal to 7 years in terms of dog years. For example, if I'm 25 years old in terms of human years, how old is an alpaca in terms of alpaca years?

There is no scientific way to make that conversion. If you want to just guess, then take an "average" human lifespan, say 80 years, and divide by the average lifespan of an alpaca, say 20 years.

The result is 4, so, you could say that 1 alpaca year is the same as 4 human years.

HOWEVER - that has no real meaning. The age at which alpacas go through various developmental changes cannot be related to people in that same way.

Alpacas live 15-20 years - so probably about five .That would make a very old alpaca equivalent to a 100 year old person.

And it isn't really true for dogs, either, beyond a very generic comparison. A year old dog is more like an 18 year old person in maturity. Maybe even older by a bit, depending on the dog and the person.
